Our roots go back to 1939, when John K. Hall started Hall's Dairy, a fluid milk processing business.
John Allen Hall, the oldest son, worked in the business and after a few years went to Penn State University and took their "Ice Cream Short Course." He was so enthused about the quality of the ice cream produced there, that upon returning home to the family dairy outside Millerstown, PA, he developed his own recipe using the same high quality ingredients. The first ice cream made at Hall's was for the wedding reception of John Allen Hall and Sarah DeLancey on May 9, 1947.
With the death of John K. in 1964, the business merged with Miller Brother's Dairy of Millersburg, forming Hall's and Miller Brother's Dairies. In 1982, the fluid milk business was sold to Harrisburg Dairies and John Allen kept the ice cream business and operated it as Hall's Dairy.
In November 1994, John Allen and Sarah's son and daughter (Allen and Peggy) became involved in the family business and the name was changed to Hall's Ice Cream to better describe the business.

This year Hall's Ice Cream celebrates 61 years of manufacturing high quality, great tasting ice cream by the Hall family at the same location in Millerstown.
In 2005 Hall's Ice Cream purchased the cheese business from a retiring couple at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Farmers' Market and started a new division of the company, Frisky's Choice Cheeses. We now sell a variety of cheeses at both the Farmers' Market and the Dairy Store, including cheese trays and boxes.
